An international webinar titled “Diplomacy, Geopolitics and Development – Strategic Choices in a Volatile Region” highlighted growing humanitarian and human rights concerns linked to regional conflicts, particularly their impact on Afghanistan.
The online event, organized by the Bareen Initiative for Development (BID) on May 2, 2026, brought together diplomats, analysts, human rights advocates, and members of the Afghan diaspora to discuss Pakistan’s diplomatic role in regional tensions, including the US-Iran conflict, and the broader implications ford across the region, including civilian insecurity, displacement, poverty, and restricted access to basic rights.
