Bareen Initiative for Development (BID) organized an online program on 11 July 2024 about “online education, an alternative to closing schools and universities”, the speaker of this program was Abdul Hakim, a university lecturer Prof. Abdul Hakim stated about the importance and place of online education in today’s world that the online education system is one of the new and effective methods in today’s world of education and most of the countries are currently using online education and this style of education in It is fading away.
Mr. Abdul Hakim said, online training is a good alternative to face-to-face training, especially when the facilities for face-to-face training are not favorable, which we saw in the world during the corona virus. In Afghanistan, because face-to-face education for girls is not favorable and closed, and the provision of non-standard educational services for boys, online education can be a very good alternative. If they don’t receive a standard, we should use the online education method and present a literate and useful generation to the human society.
This style of education has advantages and disadvantages, and its advantages are more than its disadvantages, and its use will not have positive effects.
Among the advantages of online education, the following can be mentioned:
• Having access to education at any time and place
• Cost-effectiveness of education
• Increasing student participation in classes
• Suitable for different learning styles of students
• The ease of the training process
• High flexibility
• Fast and high efficiency
• No limitations in learning
• Useful updates
Among the disadvantages and limitations of online education, the following can be mentioned:
• Technical problems in connecting to the Internet
• Feeling of isolation in students
• Lack of internet facilities available to all students
• Non-institutionalization of the online education style among the society
Mr. Abdul Hakim made the following suggestions:
1. Online education should be standardized and supported
2. The document provided by the universities must be valid and accepted
3. We must provide online education facilities for students
